In 1975, the defunct north eastern State Government established what was then known as Medical Auxiliary training School (MATS) at Mubi, now in Adamawa State. At that time such schools trained Rural Health Assistants and Hospital Assistant’s. In 1980, the nomenclature of the schools changed to school of Health Technology

and trained Community Health Assistants (CHAs), Community Health Aides (C.H.Aides), Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians, Laboratory Technicians and Assistants, Public Health Superintendents (PHS) whose name was later changed to Environmental Health Officers (EHO), etc. Following state creation in February, 1976, the school in Mubi fell under defunct Gongola State.
With the creation of Taraba State on 27th August, 1991, there was need to have a School of Health Technology in the new State since it was mandatory for every State in the Federation to own such an institution. After some due considerations, Takum was selected by the State Government for the establishment of the institution. Read more

Our History
 
In 1975, the defunct north eastern State Government established what was then known as Medical Auxiliary Training School (MATS) at

Student Life
 
Fresh students of Taraba State College  of  Health Technology have been urged to use the period of their studentship in the institution
as an opportunity to not only acquire certificates at the end of their study but also to live an exemplery live within and outside the institution. We also advise all students to study hard for the benefits of not only their parents but also for the benefits of the country and the world at large. The studies of every child could be the great sucess and development of our institution, families, states, and even our country and the world. We charge all the students the be their watchman for one another.

the institution. We work as a team for sucess of the school, students, lecturers and the government knowing fully well that rendering of quality services is the only way to achieve our future expectation to all the students and nation. We delivered sound administration for years and still work tiredlessly to ensure that the goals and plans of our students is achieved at the end of their studies in the institution. We shall continue to give the best of our services while we work as a team at all times.

Four die of Lassa fever in Taraba
Four more people have died of Lassa fever in Taraba State bringing the number to seven, head of clinical services, Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, Dr. Iliya Attah has confirmed.
He said 19 suspected Lassa fever patients were admitted in the hospital out of which 6 patients were treated and discharge while 3 are still on admission.

Jalingo - The World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in Taraba State on Saturday announced plans to vaccinate no fewer than 760,128 children against measles in the state.
Mary Bajani, The UNICEF Consultant on Measles, told newsmen during "Media Orientation
Workshop" in Jalingo, that 3,999 workers had been trained for the exercise.
The exercise would hold between November 21 to November 25.
According to her, both temporary and permanent posts have been fixed at ward level to enable citizens identify locations for the exercise.

She said vaccine preventable disease had remained a major cause of under 5 morbidity and mortality in Nigeria.
